The Gault Millau is a household name for every top gastronomic chef. The same is true for olive oil. As soon as Marco Oreggia re-releases his Flos Olei, the excitement rises in all olive growing regions around the world. No fewer than the best 500 olive oils in the world are presented to the general public in this trade magazine. In 2017, the Istria growing region already managed to get a lot of top ratings, so that it not only caught up with Tuscany in terms of points, but even received the title of "No. 1 gourmet region".
The 4 best olive oil producers from Istria - Flos Olei 2018
This year, the great result was even further expanded. Four producers achieved 97 out of 100 possible points: Ipša, Mate, Olea B.B. and Zubin. This means that Ipša is once again in the top group with its Frantoio variety.
The traditional olive oil from Tonin follows with 96 points, as do those from Meneghetti and the truffle producer Zigante Giancarlo. We are particularly pleased that Al Torcio was able to increase its score to 94 points with its sensational Leccino. This variety is proving to be a real insider tip for olive oil lovers.
